Miss you guys. Gawd I miss Duffy's so very terribly. Please give BIG Dan, li'l Lisa, and April my best. Give Roger, proprietor of Duffy's and the Pageant, my best. We'l have to get the Pub Scout's out to McGurk's in St. Louis, MO. Hopefully, McGurk's will do it all expenses paid. Doubt it, but who know. Keep on keepin on ... cheers and love. B.

Michael, I enjoyed hearing your music, and talking with you at Duffy's this past Dec. 27, 2002, along with my friends Dorella and Sid Locksley from Nottingham. Thank you again for releasing the video of Pub Scouts shot in Paradise a few years ago, for community access television. see it broadcast 02/14/03. It's your valentine to the community.

I am an experienced traditional singer interested in finding
accompanists on traditional instruments to perform with, particularly in
situations that fundraise for social services and causes. Also... does
anyone here know an Irish harp teacher? Thank you.

Your site is put together very well. I found it while looking into the music scene in the Butte and Tehama counties area. I am new here, and looking for other people to play recorder music with. I'm into the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque eras. I don't enjoy "jamming", and am looking to form an ensemble to rehearse and perform publically. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Hello, I think your page on the www is very interesting, because I am making a work about Celtic music for my music academy. I am also busy with an "archeosite" here in Belgium, I do a lot of things there (tinwhistle, pommer, but also fighting with swords and that sort of things). Maybe you can send me some information about the source of Celtic music.

Hey Ya'll
Just got back from Fall Strawberry. Some happenin' jams
in Richard & Lynn Ferry's hospitable tent. Got to meet
up with SLO Dave & Stu. Shea Black showed up and hosted
a Sunday night session that was over the top.
So....We are thinking Stout/Scout Winter Jam around the
Bay area somewhere. Maybe first weekend in December.
There seems to be a reoccuring dream here; a mass
hysteria to get together before next Strawberry or Lark.
We don't have to wait until spring. We want this people.
Let's make it happen. Santa Cruz area more specifically.
Any ideas of locations? It will have to have indoor
facilities that are private to our group so we don't
have to stop playing ever!! Someone needs to compile a
guest list that the word can get out. Email me, anyone.

Hail, hail, all you Scouts & Stouts !!! Greetings !! I'm just back in from Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddling camp (at which, yes, I did learn to play my very first tune on the fiddle - badly...) by way of Santa Barbara, where I dropped in on the Stout Masters' session at the James Joyce last night.... (they *ROCK*!!) I pass along their enthusiastic greetings to you ! And since they read your comments page, I must drop a big *THANK YOU* to Aimee, Richard, Robert, John, and Jim for making me so welcome despite never achieving true groovedom on my goat. And thanks, John, for the Rose !! Stu and Dave, you were sorely missed !
At any rate, we had more conversations about the wonderful notion of a Scouts&Stouts Winter Jamboree (or two, or three) and I'm now thinking it's time we took this beyond mere talk. I'm willing to help plan/organise/carry off this gathering, so if y'all would kindly start dropping suggestions as to place/time/duration for the gathering, I'll get started on the planning phase !!

Howdy Scouts! It was great to jam with you folks again and while away the happy hours with more tunes than will ever be humanly playable. I personally think we need some scouting outings, because once or twice a year is simply not enough for this grand a gathering...maybe terrorize a group campground in some state park. More than once, I heard the happy hour referred to as the black hole of Irish music--mass and gravity so dense that anyone who gets too close gets sucked in. Keep hammering!

I guess it's about time I added my comments to the guestbook! Needless to say, Richard and I had a great time at Lark. The best part was being able to camp with our good friends. I think this year's Lark really brought home an important concept: playing Irish music is not so much about learning tunes and technique as it is about sharing something special with your friends. It's the craic that counts the most! Thanks to the Scouts and the other Stouts for some killer sessions! Hopefully, we can organize a "winter Lark" that we can all attend. Let's work on it!

Wow, I agree. What a great time at Lark! It was a pleasure to finally meet the *Stout* Gang. I'm up for a camping trip filled with music, dance, and of course a bit of Irish Whiskey. Hope to see you all soon.

You know, I just gotta love a group that posts&hosts compliments about me in my absence !!! Thanks *heaps* Stu !
I *heartily* agree with both Stu and Dave.... we really should try to plan some kind of Scouts & Stouts Winter Stramash to tide us over until Lark 2000. It's sooooo far away !!
Any suggestions, anyone ??

All I can say is: Wow! I couldn't even begin to imagine a Lark Camp without the 'Scouts & Friends! What a great energy at the happy hours! Each day I thought, "that's as great as it can get" and every next day proved otherwise. I'm feeling too impatient to wait another year -- we've all got to get together sooner!

Yeah!! the Pub Scouts rock!!!! The craic was mighty at Lark Camp this year, thanks to the Scouts. We enjoyed seeing all of you again and sharing reel after reel after reel. And how about that Christa--what a killer voice! Let's get together again, before next August--how about it? Anybody going to Srwaberry? Slan, Stu (Los Osos)

Hello to all my new friends - the Pubscouts! Thank you to all who made me feel so welcome and a part of your group at Lark Camp! I had a fabulous time - and loved the 'happy hours'! Thanks for the plywood to dance on - I really liked the happy hours in the meadow. I am going to have to get a little portable dance board - I'll work on that for next year! You guys were awesome and I really enjoyed meeting all of you - Maria - how's your foot?
I hope you all made it home safely to Chico - I miss you already. You certainly made my first Lark Camp one to remember - I am nervous to go back next year for fear I will not have as much fun as I just had!
Thanks and love to all

Big, wild hellos and hugs to all you *amazing* Scouts & Stouts post-Lark.... it was, as usual, a bloody fabulous stramash playing with you lot - listening to tapes of Happy Hours made that *looooong* drive home tolerable !! (And inspired me to begin plotting a Northwards migration...) Words fail when trying to describe just how much fun it is to play (and drink, and dance, and sing, and schmooze) with y'all !! Too bad Lark 2000 is so far off !!
Maria said you'd be planning A Gathering in September, so let me know when and I'll come up to flog my goat and sing !!! I'll be closer to you 27 Aug - 6 Sept when I attend Alasdair Fraser's Valley of the Moon camp, and again 24-27 Sept when I come up for the Sebastopol Celtic Festival, so maybe I can find some more time to come up and play with y'all...
It's an honour and a pleasure to know you *all* - but special thanks go to Taylor for the lessons, the moral support, and the shoulder to cry on... you're just the greatest !!
Get those Lark panoramas on the 'net, guys - I want to see how they turned out !!! And how can I order one of your printed Tune Books ???? I was too late to get one at Lark.
Play on !! And give us a fucking reel !!!!!
Cheers,
Christa

I am familiar with (and really like) your tune book because I have played at many sessions with other musicians in the Santa Cruz area who have your tune book. I am at a serious disadvantage not having your book. I would like to know if you sell spiral bound copies. If so, please E-Mail me the details or mail to my P.O. Box at P.O. Box 927, Aptos, CA 95001.

Well done, lads! Informative and well organized web site. Thanks for access to your tunes. I might know about half of them and, with perserverance, a stout heart, and a pint or two, I might be able to learn the rest. Always refreshing and insightful to see how other musicians put sets together. Glad to see you're keeping the tradition there in the Golden state. Good luck, good playing, and always to your good health!

Hi, I'm one of Marilyn Cannon's students. I played in a Penny Whistle Concert at Hooker Oak School. I found your site on WebTV. It's cool that I'm able to talk to you over a computer. Your music sounds beautiful and it's so soothing. Thank you for playing at our school. After the concert we got letters from Room 14 saying that we were great. They thought that your instruments were really cool. Their favorite was the bodran. They drew 4-leaf clovers on the letters as a symbol of Ireland. How did you think of your name? And thank you, again.

**GOD** it was good to play with y'all again !! To borrow Maria's phrase - "You Rock !!!" What a Mighty seisiun you have !! Tore the bloody roof off - and my hand was swollen to prove it the next morning... Thanks *heaps* for letting me drop in and flog my Goat with you on Friday; I look forward to doing it again - sooner rather than later. Y'all are supposed to play the Lark Cannery festival in May, no ?? Might I play with you then, 'cause I'll be there, with bells on, running the hospitality suite (where the Beer is kept...) Then again, I might be back in April...
Special Hullooos to Greg, Maria, and Pierce, and Cheers all 'round to the fabulous lot of you... I'll buy the Guiness next time...
